A Call For Contributions:
Thanks for your generosity. The Phase VI Program was essentially fully-funded.
We will soon be looking to fund next year's program. If you can make a contribution now, we will still put it to good use. A Well Maintenance Trip and Phase VII Planning Trip is scheduled for the month of November.
The people in rural Madagascar today live in conditions that the developed world has not seen in over a hundred years: no water, no sanitation, no cars, no outside communication, and very limited health care and education. They also suffer from water-borne diseases that stunt the growth and development of the young and cause death in the weak and vulnerable. The greatest shame is this trend can be reversed with just a little help from those of us more fortunate.
The Project conducted an on-site inspection of the area and scores of villages were identified. Discussions were held with local officials and village elders, and the groundwork has been laid to place a well in the village. As has been done in the past, each village will manage the well and will be empowered and guided to use the well to improve the sanitation, health and hygiene of their village.
The Madagascar Water Project is seeking contributions for the Phase VI Program, which will begin at the end of June. The Project is committed to a 35 well program that will cost an estimated $26,250. Twenty thousand dollars has already been raised and contributions to fill the remaining gap are sought. Since the project planning time-line is long, the gap will be filled by outside contributions or the Founder's personal funds. Fred already has tens of thousands invested in the Project. He dedicates his time at no cost to the Project and pays his own travel expenses, so he could use some help from like-minded people.
Each well costs an average of $750 and all of your contributions will go directly to drill and maintain water wells. The Project remains entirely responsible to its Contributors and regular updates will be posted on this website, facebook and to Contributors that request it.
The attached google link and the brochure provide information on the villages included in the Phase VI Program. If you wish, you can direct your contribution to a specific village. The table found in the Village Availability link show which villages still have no designated sponsors.
